Like Mother Like Daughter

I finally got a pair of TOMS, guys. I've been wanting some for a while and just bit the bullet and got some black glitter ones. Lily shared the experience by getting her first pair of TOMS as well. She went with the silver glitter. She is totally cool. Anyway, these are some pretty comfy shoes AND when you buy a pair, they donate a pair of shoes to a child in need. TOMS are pretty awesome.
Here is my beautiful daughter showcasing one of my latest projects. I've been on a bit of a sewing kick lately. The dress above was a pinterest find. I found some Moda (my fave) fabrics on Amazon (who would have thought) that I fell in love with and figured this was the perfect project for it. It was SO much fun to make and Lily absolutely LOVES it. I also made a dress from a pattern for Lily and I used fabric that my mom bought to make me a dress when I was younger. The next time she wears it I'll take pictures.

Snow Day

Last week, it snowed! A little! The kids have been dying for it to snow since Christmas so they could play in it. William was really hoping to "play a joke" on Lily and put a snowball in her shirt. He's such a boy. We didn't get much here, but it was enough for them to play and for William to be out of school last Friday.
William was disappointed because Lily was wearing snow bibs... no snow in her shirt. They had fun throwing snowballs at each other's faces and they made snow angels. The snow melted the next day, so I'm glad we took the opportunity to play while it lasted!

The New Year

I know that we have already gone through a week of the New Year, but I wanted to start the blog year off right. And in a cliche kind of way. Resolutions.

This year, I have decided that I am going to be happy. I need to be happier in my life. I am starting this endeavor by reading the Book of Mormon at least twice this year. I figured there is no better way to have joy than to dive into the gospel. I think the past year I have been too worried about where I was and where the world tells me I should be. There is no happiness in that because I realized that I am no where near those expectations. I know, however, that as I study the scriptures, I will learn and progress to where I feel I should be spiritually. I have only been doing this for a week and I already feel a difference. Well, that AND I've been to the doctor and have my thyroid medication again. That makes a huge difference too!

I'm really excited about this year. I feel good things are coming our way. We don't have anything extravagant happening, but I know that happiness can be found in simplicity.
